A new winebar is opening on the ground floor of the building. Neighbor to the apartment is BLOX, the Danish architectural centre which holds a wide number of events and exhibitions. Nearby you can also explore the Royal library. A 2 min walk from the apartment you have the harbour and the newly constructed pedestrian and bike bridge that takes you over to the old and charming neighborhood of Christianshavn. In the other direction, the apartment is a 5 min walk to the City Hall and Gammel Strand (where the metro line runs) and the shopping centre of the city. On the streets Strædet or Gammel Strand, there are a wide number of restaurants, cafes and cocktail bars. Perfect streets to explore both traditional Danish food, innovative cocktails and look out at the beautiful canal and the old cobblestone streets. The street Vester Voldgade was in the old days a narrow alley a part of the rampart that enclosed Copenhagen, part of the Bastioned Fortification Ring. The plot on which BLOX is located, is the story of a capital in constant development. The plot arose through gradual refills in the harbor in the 1660s. The original building from 1772 was the royal brewery “Kongens Bryghus”, which with industrial development eventually developed into a real industrial complex in the 1870s. The city developed around the site, and Vester Voldgade was built in 1873 as one of the city’s most important traffic arteries. Nearby, the Royal Library was constructed in 1903.
